That's just for girls

I took Button to the doctor yesterday and while we were waiting I saw something that made me sad and a little angry. A lady was there with her 4 kids. She had two bigger boys maybe 7 and 4, a little girl around 2 or 3 and a newborn baby. The baby and the girl were in a double stroller while the bigger boys sat in the chairs. The little girl had a doll with a bottle. I was people watching as we sat and waited while Button amused herself with a Cheerio snack. The 7 year old boy had picked up the doll and was pretending to feed it. I thought it was cute. He settled the doll in and got the bottle ready when his mom noticed him. "Don't do that," she said. "That is for girls." He tried to explained that he was pretending he was the daddy. She told him no. He tried 3 different ways to justify to her why he should be allowed to play caregiver to this doll. She keep telling him no, that boys don't do that. Meanwhile she was bottle feeding her baby and I think the little boy was just trying to emulate her in  a way. Bub went through a brief phase after Button was born of trying to care for a doll that he has because it was all we were doing at the time.

I wanted to ask her then how she felt about my husband being Button's primary caregiver. That he, in fact, changes her diapers and gives her a bottle and puts her down for a nap every single day. That he bottle feed Bub when needed and changed his diaper. In other words, he acts like a parent. So I wondered how much of the "work" these children's father did. Is he one of those guys whose sons only do "boy things?" Are they never allowed to put on their mom's shoes when they are 2 and gender stereotyping is not really a thing that you should do at that age? Bub use to try out my shoes and the only thing I ever worried about is him breaking a leg. I felt no need to hem him into his gender at the age of 2 or 3 or 4. I don't even do it now at the age of 6. Society takes care of that for him and it is a little sad. So I was sad for this boy and angry at his mother. I wonder if she knows the lesson that she just taught him. I wonder if this boy is going to grow up to be one of those dads who never does anything for the baby, who doesn't do diapers, and whose wife complains that she is stuck doing everything. Maybe I am generalizing too far. But I watched that little boy try his best to just pretend to feed a baby doll and be shut down by his mother again and again and it just wasn't right.

Reality shows I WILL Watch

I'm not big on reality TV.  I don't like the competition shows and I've never gotten into any singing or dancing shows.  I used to be a big Project Runway fan but it's gotten really boring and stale so no more.  I used to watch America's Next Top Model but Tyra is completely ridiculous and I can't stand to watch her anymore.  That was a funny show though.   There are a couple of shows that I still like however and will watch if I come across them.

I like Say Yes to the Dress and it took me forever to figure out why.  It's because it's funny how much drama people create over a dress.  Sometimes though they have really touching stories.  Also PRETTY DRESSES.  And now there is Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta which might be great.  Southern people and weddings should equally some great drama.

I also like I Didn't' Know I was Pregnant.  It just seems so crazy that all these women didn't know they were pregnant until they go into labor and then have perfectly healthy babies.  I wonder if they only pick people whose babies turned out ok because there has to be someone out there who didn't a good experience.  Not that I want something bad to happen to anyone or any baby but still.  Maybe the message they are passing along is that prenatal care isn't necessary.  I don't know.  But I still like it.

Along the same vein I like 16 and Pregnant.  It's interesting to see how different teens handle being a parent.  Often I simultaneously want to slap them and hug them because they just don't get it.  I like the teens who actually take care of their babies and don't try to pass the baby off to their mom.  Sometimes the adult parents are good, sometimes they are worse than the teenagers.  It's fascinating stuff.

And House Hunters.  I've always like looking at houses and this show appeals to the voyeur in me.  I especially like House Hunters International because of all the beautiful locations.

New seasons of my favorite shows

So Lost is premiering next month on the 2nd and Project Runway this month on the 14th. I'm going to try and do my "thoughts" posts that I was doing before. I really enjoy doing posts like that for some reason. Especially on Lost since it helps me keep my thoughts and theories clear and I can check back later.

In other news, I think Psych is coming back soon and Gossip Girl too. Now that I've finally caught up on it, I can watch it with the rest of the GG fans. I have all of the current (and last :( ) season of Dollhouse saved and I need to get around to watching that some time.

Fall TV

So nothing much has been going on.  Tonight is the new Glee which I am excited about even though I doubt I'll get to watch it since it is the night I go to my mom's house for dinner. But I'm recording it and will watch it about 12 hours after everyone else. Glee is such a great show and I love the music.

Gossip Girl premiered Monday, but I'm still getting caught up from last season so I haven't watched that either. Dollhouse starts the 25th and I can't wait for that. And Bones starts on Thursday and BT will watch that with me, but I'm recording Vampire Diaries too. I still haven't watch the premiere. I'm looking forward to V and FlashForward.  And that's about it.  I'm hooked on Project Runway, of course, but mostly the DVR records pre-school television at my house.

In from Netflix

Lately we've been watching a lot of TV shows together, but I'm trying to get caught up before my shows start.  So I'm getting Gossip Girl season 2 and Dollhouse season 1.  I can't wait for the new seasons of these shows.  For the record, I had both of these shows on the DVR waiting to be watched and then I broke the DVR and lost all those shows. *sigh*

Gossip Girl - Season 2 (I love this season.  It's even better than the books and that's saying something)
Expect even more shocking secrets revealed in this hit drama's second season, which continues to trail the privileged life of rich young Manhattan teens. The players, seen through the eyes of a blogger known only as "Gossip Girl" (narrated by Kristen Bell), include Serena (Blake Lively), who left Manhattan for boarding school, her friend Blair (Leighton Meester), who took Serena's place as the "popular girl," and Nate (Chace Crawford), Blair's boyfriend.

Dollhouse - Season 1 (I'm very happy that they renewed this show.)
Eliza Dushku stars as Echo, a member of an elite underground organization that sends its operatives on dangerous missions, then brings them back to their top-secret Dollhouse to wipe out all memory of the assignment. But when Echo starts to recall troubling bits and flashes from her former missions, she begins to question who she is and just what this powerful organization is doing.

Pride and Prejudice - BBC mini-series

Well, this weekend I spent some a lot of time and watch the classic 1995 BBC mini-series of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Oddly, I had never seen the whole thing, just bits and pieces. It is the most comprehensive version I've seen. It is basically the whole book with few changes. I enjoyed it. Colin Firth makes a most excellent Darcy and Jennifer Ehle is fun as Elizabeth Bennett. The thing that bothered me is that Jane is suppose to be prettier than Elizabeth, but personally I don't find Susannah Harker nearly as pretty as Jennifer Ehle. And everyone looked so old for their characters, especially Lydia (Julia Sawalha and yes I know she was like 25 at the time). And that bothered me.

The scenery and houses were beautiful. And I love that they include everything just as described in the book. It's like the book gave to life. Everyone did a great job with their characters. The Bennett house was nicer than I had pictured and Mr. Collins was a little more oily. The costumes were wonderful. I love the dresses so much. It was a really pretty and authentic movie.

I enjoyed Anna Chancellor's Miss Bingley. Lydia didn't aggravate me nearly as much as she usually does. But near the end I wanted to shake Mrs. Bennett and make her shut up. Her screeching make my ears bleed a little, I swear.
Something I also found awkward was the ending. When they declare their love for each other, it was so matter of fact. Yes, I love you. Well, I love you. Let's walk on. I know that's what happens in the book. But I've been involved at this point for a long time, people, let's see some action, a kiss or something!

Anyway, it was good and I will watch it again one day when I have a lot of time on my hands. (Ha!) But is it bad that I prefer the 2005 version and that Darcy and Elizabeth more? Because I do. I kept making comparisons between the two while I was watching and the romance tension is more believable between Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen. I like Colin Firth, but his Darcy does not invite the kind of yuminess that Matthew Macfadyen does with his bedroom eyes and earnestness. *sigh*

Pride and Prejudice - 2005

I watched this one yesterday from about 1 pm to 8 pm. Yes, it took me 7 hours to finish a movie that is 2 hours long, but there was a lot going on. Anyway, I don't know why I'm telling you this, but kids and cars, you know? Something always needs to be fixed.

I won't summarize because it is Pride and Prejudice. I love this version. It is beautiful shot and the director made some interesting choices as far as lighting and location. It is definitely an abbreviated version with some supporting characters left out (Mr. & Mrs. Hurst, the Philips, etc) but they aren't really necessary. The location for some scenes were changed too. Darcy proposes outside by a lake instead of in the parsonage. Wickham is meet outside and they talk about his relationship with Darcy outside under a tree instead of at a party playing cards. I didn't have a problem with any of that. The only thing I questioned was why Lizzie was always staring in a mirror? I get that it showed passage of time, but I felt there was a deeper meaning than that.

The cast is perfect. I love Kiera Knightley's Lizzie, so proud and smart and quick-witted. And I love the little laugh when she first sees Pemberley. I love Matthew Macfadyen's Mr. Darcy. He is so awkward and delicious. Sigh. Rosamund Pike as Jane is so great. She is so beautiful and ethereal and sweet, like Jane ought to be. And I wanted to slap Lydia around a little. Jena Malone is good at playing annoying characters.

So all in all, a beautiful movie with a great cast. It skips a lot for time, but still retains the essence of Pride and Prejudice.

Burn Notice + Royal Pains

Burn Notice's new season started last night. We love this show and last night was so good. It's going to be a different show from here on out since Michael is on his own now without the Agency "protecting" him. But Michael Weston is just awesome so it'll be great!

Favorite quote from Burn Notice: "This would be a great Michael Weston story if people were allowed to tell Michael Weston stories."

We also watched Royal Pains since it came on after Burn Notice and I wanted to see if it was any good. I loved it too. It was funny and I laughed out loud several times. It was a little tedious with the doctor constantly saying that he didn't want this and he was going back to his pathetic life in New York, but we all knew he wasn't or there wouldn't be a show. His brother was funny and the kid he saved was hilarious. I hope that kid is on the show more. Also I don't know how realistic the doctor's getting fired was, I 'm not sure they could do that. Anyway.

Okay Is it just me?

I'm reading The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines and I am enjoying it. The rumor mill had Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, and Lindsay Lohan starring in the movie but that would be completely awful.
But I'm looking at the cover and this is what I keep noticing.

Does Snow White look exactly like Michelle Trachenburg or it is just me? I could get behind that casting in a heartbeat.

"The Incident" (Lost thoughts)

I've never taken up this many post for one show, but there is so much going on in this episode and I have a lot of thoughts but I wanted to do a summary of the episode just for reference, so this is the Dharma plotline here and here is the Jacob/Locke plotline. This is for my thoughts and theories.

So the part that interested me the most was Jacob and the other guy who I call OG. OG wants to kill Jacob but he can't so he has to find a loophole and he finds it in John Locke and Ben Linus. But what I'm wondering is if he was locked in "Jacob's" cabin and couldn't get out because of the line of ash. And that is who Ben thought Jacob was and who Christian Shephard is working for and who whispered "Help me" to Locke and told him to move the Island. Maybe he told Locke to break up the circle of ash because when Ilana and her group arrive, there is a break. Also Ilana says that "he" (Jacob) hasn't been there is a long time and that someone else was using it. I wonder too what connection Not!Locke/Christian has to the Dead!Alex since she told Ben not to try and kill John Locke again. Is the Smoke Monster, called Cerebus, an ancient god of death?

"The Incident" (Lost summary part 2)

For the Dharma plotline, go here.

So at the beginning of the episode we see a guy (YG) working on a loom and weaving a tapestry, then he goes fishing and cooks and eats a fish while watching the approach of a ship (the Black Rock). Then this other older guy (OG) sits down and they talk about the approaching ship and how YG brought the ship to the Island and how this time might be different. OG says that YG is trying to prove him wrong, but it always ends the same, they come, fight, destroy, corrupt. YG says it only ends once, everything before that is progress. And then OG says that he wants to kill YG and YG knows that but OG can't and that he will find a loophole one day. YG says he will be right here when he does and OG revels that YG is Jacob! and walks away. Jacob is on the beach next to the statue and it is whole and looks to be the alligator god Sebek.

So it is revealed that Jacob has visited and physically touched every one of the "significant" original Lostaways at some point in their lives: Kate and Sawyer when they were young, Jack after his first major surgery, Hurley after jail time for "killing" 3 people, Sayid right before his wife was run down and Jacob may have actually contributed to that one, Jin and Sun at their wedding, John after he was thrown out the window by his father and Jacob appears to bring him back to life, and Ilana after she was injured somehow asking her to help him. He seems to be setting events into motion without really doing anything, but wants them to go to the Island.

2007, John Locke tells Ben that he wants him to kill Jacob, that Locke isn't going to do it. Ben asks why and Locke says that after everything Ben did in Jacob's name and never having had the privilege to even meet him, it should be obvious. Ben says that he told his dead daughter he would do whatever Locke said and Locke is very interested in this. Richard takes them to the foot statue and reveals that Jacob lives there, not a cabin in the woods. In a conversation with Locke, he tells him that he is ageless because Jacob made him that way. Ben and Locke go into the statue base, Richard says to tell Jacob he said hi and goes, Locke gives Ben a knife and off they go.

"The Incident" (Lost summary)

I hadn't planned on doing a full recap and I missed a lot, believe it or not, so I'll link you to EW Lost Recap by Doc Jensen since he is always excellent and to Television without Pity's recap (when they are up) if you want more or a better picture of what happeneded. Here is Watch with Kirsten's Lost Redux as well.

So here is a brief summary of the 1977 plotline.

1977 Dharma - Jack, Sayid, Richard, and Ellie get the core of the bomb out and put it in a knapsack and then Richard knocks Ellie out and says it is his job to protect the leader and she is pregnant anyway so he drags her away and it's up to Jack and Sayid now. Radzinsky is still an asshole and not a listener so he drills into the pocket of electromagnetic energy. Jack and Sawyer have a big knock down drag out fight and it is not cool but Juliet stops Sawyer. Earlier, we ran into Rose! and Bernard! with Vincent! and they were all living a good peaceful life and Rose wanted nothing to do with the Runaround Gang. She says (and I think it might be significant) that they are always finding new ways to shoot each other and they (Rose and Bernard) are happy with each other for the time that they have. Juliet looks at Sawyer who looks at Kate and then Juliet looks sad. So, anyway, big fight, but it's decided to let Jack try. So off he runs (since Sayid got shot earlier) and then shootout shootout drops bomb into hole and then nothing. And then the electronmagetic energy kicks in and sucks everything metal down the hole, but sadly not Radzinsky who tries to DRIVE AWAY in a METAL jeep but has to settle for running. But heartbreakingly Juliet gets a chain wrapped around her waist and is pulled down and Sawyer and Kate try to save her but they can't and there is crying by everyone and she lets go and down she goes. I cried. And then Juliet wakes up and spots the bomb and bangs on it with a rock and big white light LOST. But a whole lot more happened so on I go.

Continue to here for the Jacob/Locke plotline and here for my thoughts and theories.

"Follow the Leader" (Lost thoughts)

So I think I skipped last week's episode. Summary: some shocking things happened and we were all like OMG and WTF and then it was over.

This week, pretty much the same thing happened. It was a "Richard episode" but didn't really have much to do with him except that he is the only constant (hmmm) on the Island. He is always there.

1977 Island: So last week Eloise shot Daniel who told her that he was her son and she knew what would happen when she sent him. And then he died (or did he?). Then the Others captured Jack and Kate and beat the crap out of Jack and his pretty face. Man, they don't play around. Jack told Eloise the truth and she agreed to show him where the bomb was buried which was under the Dharma Village it turned out and they got there by swimming in an underwater tunnel bypassing the sonic fence. But that happens later. First, the Others almost shoot Kate but then Sayid! shows up and shoots them first (well, the Redshirts; Richard and Eloise live of course). And they tell Sayid that Kate saved Lil'Ben and he is all WTH and Kate says that it is not okay to kill children and set off hydrogen bombs and she is leaving. So she leaves and they go to the underwater cavern where Smokey lives, I think, and get the bomb that was "buried." My definition of burying is a little different than theirs because the bomb was pretty much just sitting out in the open but whatever. I guess the show doesn't have time to dig up a cement encased bomb.

Also in 1977, Sawyer gets the crap beat out of him by Radzinsky (and I've never been happier knowing that guy blows his own head off because grrr) and then the rat faced guy hits Juliet and Sawyer gives up the information on the Others in exchange for them getting on the submarine.

So there is a little scene with Hurley and Dr. Chang who questions Hurley on his history and Hurley gives up and tells him they are from the future. Dr. Chang realizes that Miles is his son and agrees to get everyone off the Island. But later we see him yelling at his wife to leave and Miles realizes that his mom wouldn't leave unless his dad did that (which I can understand because that's what it would take for me to leave without my husband). And Sawyer and Juliet talk about the life they are going to have and Sawyer looks at the Island and is like "See Ya" and gets on the sub where they have more lovey talk. Then Kate! shows up and ruins it for them. They are not escaping that easy, mawhahahah.

2007 Island: Richard is building a model ship and John Locke comes out of nowhere with a stupid boar and is like "Hey" and Richard is like WTH (this happens a lot on this show). Richard is shocked to see both Locke and Ben. Ben explains to Sun at some point that Richard is an adviser of sorts and he has had that job for a loooooooooooooong time. So Sun asks about the Dharmaways and he says he saw them die. Da-Dum!

So it appears that the Island is speaking to Locke and telling him to do things which should be worrisome and he wanders around being a freaking annoying know-it-all. He takes Richard to himself during one of the flashes and tells him what to do and then wants to go to Jacob. Richard is reluctant to do this but Locke makes him or whatever. That night, Locke tells everyone that they are going on pilgrimage to Jacob since it's not fair to take orders from some mysterious guy in a moving cabin in the woods and Richard does not like this. He tells Ben that Locke is going to be trouble and Ben says that's why he tried to kill him. I don't know what Richard's face was trying to say but he seemed disconcerted by that information. I guess Locke is not suppose to be harmed or something since he seems to be the natural leader.

So on the pilgrimage to Jacob, Ben and Locke are walking and Locke is amused that the Island has never spoken to Ben. And then he tells Ben that he is going to kill Jacob. Ben is naturally stunned! as I was since I guess Locke is no longer just a man of faith. I wonder if the Island is telling him to kill Jacob. My guess is Richard is not going to be happy about that.

Question: Are Richard and Jacob the same person? Maybe since Richard is old and no one has seen Jacob. It would make a certain kind of sense. Also, if not, what is Richard's deal? I hope they do a completely Richard-centric episode since I love him. He seems willing to go with whatever people tell him, completely reasonable but willing to fight, I guess. We've never actually seen him do anything violent, yet he is always surrounded by violent people who are willingly to murder.

And then the shark jumped out of the water and ate them!

Last night while flipping through the channels, BT discovered that Deep Blue Sea was on. Knowing my love of shark movies, he stopped just for me. The first time I saw Jaws, I was around 8 or 9. My sister's friend had a copy. In retrospect, it was not my best decision to watch that movie. I was scared of swimming pools and the beach for a long time.

Now, however, I love these types of movies. I don't own any for some reason but I will watch them on TV if they are on. When we moved when I was 13, my cousin and I were watching Jaws 2 when the adults were painting and doing wallpaper and one of my aunts kept coming and watching and covering her face, but she kept coming back.

The cool thing about the original Jaws so the mystery of the shark. Because of technical problems, the film makers decided to show the shark as little as possible but that made the movie creepier. Once you actually see the shark, it's a little less terrifying since, honestly, it is not the best shark ever made.

I also love Deep Blue Sea. The sharks are very well done of course. But I also like Lake Placid and I've seen Piranha but it wasn't my favorite. Basically any underwater predator who eats people movie and I'm there, the bigger the better. I laughed my ass off when, at the end of Undercover Brother, the shark jumped out of the water and ate the guy. Basically, every movie needs to end with someone making out or getting eaten by a shark.

I've read the Jaws book and the book Meg, a Jaws rip-off about a Carcharodon megalodon, a prehistoric shark. It was okay but Jaws does it better as always.

Favorite Movies to Watch on a Rainy Day

Everyone has rainy day movies. When it's yucky raining outside and you can curl up in bed or on the couch and just watch movies. Here are my favorites in no order.

1. Clue : You have no idea how much I love this movie. I have been watching this movie since it came on HBO and we taped it (with VHS tapes!) and watched it so much that the video eventually broke and me, my mom, and my sister had to buy our own copies on DVD (this is mostly cause we don't live together anymore). I can quote practically the whole movie and this is not a movie to watch with me if you hate it when people do that. My favorite quote is
Colonel Mustard: This is war, Peacock. Casualties are inevitable. You can not make an omelet without breaking eggs, every cook will tell you that.
Mrs. Peacock: But look what happened to the cook!
Also it has the best cast: Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Michael McKean, and Lesly Ann Warren. These people are fantastic and all in one movie!

If you don't know what Clue is about, I don't know what to do with you. But... the guests at a dinner party try to find out who killed Mr. Body in what room and with what weapon.

2. Spirited Away: Others would pick Howl's Moving Castle, or Princess Mononoke or maybe even My Neighbor Toroto as their favorite Hayao Miyazaki, but I've always like Spirited Away. It is about a young girl whose parents are turned into pigs after consuming the food of the gods and who works in a bathhouse for those gods while trying to get her parents back. The animation is splendid and the story is really good and creepy at times.

3. Bringing Up Baby: I confess to loving old movies and particularly Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. But this is one of the greats. They are matched made in heaven and so beautiful to look at and their comedic timing is perfect. Katharine Hepburn plays a rich heiress who decides she loves Cary Grant's paleontologist character. It involves a missing bone, a dog, a leopard, and a trip to her aunt's. Beyond that, it's hard to give a brief synopsis. But if you've never seen it, go now. I'll wait here.

(My favorite scence is when Katharine Hepburn is marching around saying "I was born on the side of a hill." Cracks me up everytime.)

4. Any of the Sailor Moon movies: I've talked before about my love of Sailor Moon, my absolute favorite anime show. About two years a girl I use to work with gave me all the movies on DVD and that made me happy. I only had them on VHS and, alas, my VCR was no more so I wasn't able to watch them. But now I can and frequently do. I prefer the Japanese with the subtitles because, frankly, Usagi/Serena's English voice is annoying. There are 3 movies are Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, and Sailor Moon SuperS, after the series seasons. My favorite is the S movie. Sailor Moon is a magical girl series. The evil Princess Snow Kaguya is after the Earth and tries to freeze it in order to gain control. The Sailor Senshi (or Soldiers) fight her. There is also a subplot about the talking cat, Luna.

5. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: Even though I was disappointed by Jim Carrey in this movie, it is still one of my favorites. The children they picked for the Baudelaires are perfect and they do an excellent job. I don't even mind the order change since it makes sense for the movie. These are some of my favorite books and I really like this movie. In fact, I lost my first copy of this movie and had to buy a new one. If you've never heard of this movie or its book series (and if you haven't, COME ON), orphan children fight against an evil villain to steal their money.

"Some Like It Hoth" (Lost Thoughts)

So finally a Miles episode and it was completely awesome as it should be. We got confirmation that Dr. Pierre Chang is Miles' dad like we already suspected.

Off-Island: At the beginning of the episode, Lil'Miles' mom is looking for an apartment and Miles is looking around and hears someone so he investigates and finds a dead man. He yells for his mom who comes and he tells her he can still hear him. Later, when Miles is older, he visits his mom who is dying and asks her about his dad and how come he is the way he is and she tells him that his dad kicked them out and didn't care about them. But later we see evidence of something different. Anyway, he asked where his dad is buried, I guess thinking he can get answers from him but his mom tells him his dad is somewhere he can't go.

Still later, we see Miles doing his spirit business and tells a dad, Howard Gray, that his son always knew he loved him and the man is happy to know this. Afterwards, Naomi approaches him and offers him 1.6 million to come to the island where his gift will be useful to them. So, of course, Miles agrees. Then he is kidnapped by Bram of "what lies in the shadow of the statue" fame who asks him not to help Widmore but Miles is only interested in money. Bram tells him that he (Bram) is working for the winning team and Miles is playing for the wrong team and tosses him out of the van. Miles goes back to visit Howard Gray to tell him he should have told his son he loved him when he was alive if he wanted the son to know.

Island 1977: Kate and James come back from giving Lil'Ben to Richard Alpert. James tells Miles to erase the surveillance tape but before he can, Horace comes in and takes him into the "circle of trust" and asks him to pick up a package from Radzinsky. It turns out to be a body and Miles finds out what happened which was the guy's filling was yanked by a force out of his head and exited through his forehead! Radzinksy tells him to bring the body to Horace who tells him to bring it to Dr. Chang. Miles picks up Hurley, accidentally, who finds out about the body and guesses about Miles' ability, but it is okay because Hurley too talks to dead people and even plays chess with them. (LOL) So at the Orchid, Dr. Chang is unhappy by Hurley's presence and Hurley calls him a "douche" and Miles says that is his father, like we didn't already know.

Then they take Dr. Chang to Radzinsky at the Swan's construction site and Hurley is asking Dr. Chang questions about his family who has a 3 month old son named Miles. Dr. Chang is mildly interested in our Miles but doesn't put 2 and 2 together and come up with Asian son named Miles. Then at the Swan, Miles and Hurley witness the hatch getting its serial number which are the numbers. Later Hurley tells Miles about his own dad and how it was good they made up. Mile sees Dr. Chang reading a book about polar bears to his 3 month old son (so cute!) and gets a little chocked up. Dr. Chang gets a phone call and comes out and tells Miles he needs him. Miles responds with a hopeful "You do?" and then takes Dr. Chang out to the pier where a sub full of Ann Arbor scientists is docked. And one of them is Daniel Faraday! Da Dum!

There was also a plot B about Roger who suddenly gives a crap about his son and takes to blaming Kate cause she is dumb and accidentally gives too much away by being caring. And Roger learns that Jack is taller than him as Jack steps up to him to tells him to leave Kate alone and he is drunk. But Roger is suspicious so that does not bode well.

So the cryptic comment that Faraday was not there was literal because I was thinking maybe mentally he was not there. Also more daddy issues for the show.
I'm thinking that shadow of the statue (SotS) people are some sort of island cult thing. And they live off-island but are back to protect the island from all the shenanigans going on and they don't work for Widmore or Ben. Also they are pissing me off.

Missed it by *that* much

I am, like most people, not famous for many things. This is generally because I am not famous but even famous people are not famous for certain things. For example, most writers are famous for writing and not necessarily their ability to tango.

What I am famous for, in my circle of the world, is being late, reading instead of doing, and watching TV shows once they are doomed. This last thing is very true. Thanks to every TV show that ever was coming out on DVD, I can start watching a show only to find out that it is canceled.

Let's take Pushing Daisies. I got the first disc in from Netflix and started watching it. So cute and so good and I love Lee Pace and Chi McBride. Then I found out that the whole series is canceled. Imagine my disappointment! So I bought the first season and am now awaiting for the second season.

This happens to me a lot with Bryan Fuller shows. When we went on our honeymoonin 2004, we had to stop at a hotel in Florida (we were driving to Disney World) and before we went to sleep, we were watching TV and Dead Like Me was on. My husband didn't want to watch it intially but I said that I wanted to see what happened and then he got interested. So when we got home I checked to see what show it was and we got the first season. Then we found out it was canceled. So we bought the second season and the movie that recently came out.

I don't remember why I decided to watch Wonderfalls. I knew it was a canceled show but I like Bryan Fuller shows so I decided to go ahead. It was weird at first but the more you got into it the better it was. The main character had a lot of growth throughout the season and that was refreshing. And it had Lee Pace so that was awesome.

Lost, although not canceled, had only two season left. I started watching it in the hiatus between season 4 and season 5. The local public library owns a lot of TV show on DVD so I got seasons1-3 on DVD from them and then watched season 4 online. Now I'm caught up and post blogs on Lost most weeks! This is also true for Gossip Girl to some extent. I got season 1 on Netflix but by the time I finished it, season 2 was already on and I started recording it on the DVR but I recently broke the DVR so I didnt' get to see most of the episodes I taped! Whaaa.

I also started recording Dollhouse because I am a huge Joss Whendon fan. It is a good show but I hadn't watched the last 3 episodes I'd tape and now they are gone too and who knows if the show is even going to be renewed. This is classic of me. This thing is all of these show are excellent but they always cancel the really good ones (Gossip Girl doesn't count since it is not going to be canceled in the forseeable future.) This makes me sad because it seems I'm doomed to forever watch a show and then see it canceled only able to watch it on DVD forever more.

Wedding Dresses Glore (or bridesmaids' dresses must be ugly)

For the record, my bridesmaid's dresses were very pretty and I let them pick out their own dress so they have nothing to complain about.
Let's see. This week the designers went home and did their collections and Tim Gunn went around and acted like he had a choice in going to the homes and viewing their collections. Was it me or was Tim fascinated by Jerell's sister?
BTW, when I say collection, I just mean what I saw glimpses of. I haven't looked at the pictures online or anything. I'm being good.
Anyway, Jerell's was evening wear, very Mardi Gras ball. I didn't really like it, it was so gaudy but his wedding dress was pretty at the bottom (although I would have changed the tulle) but the top was no, just no. Tim makes a suggestion and makes the dress better but Jerell is having none of that. I actually can't remember what his bridesmaid dress looks like so that goes to show you.
Korto's collection was pretty and looked very well made and expensive (Heidi). Or at least what I saw, maybe different on runway. The green sexual dress was interesting. Her wedding dress was pretty but the bridesmaid dress was strange. I know of no one whose bridesmaids are all 6 feet tall models. Most of us would look bad in that dress.
Leanne's collection was very elegant and meticulous and you can tell. The colors were pretty. Her wedding dress was like what because that so very dress dream. The bridesmaid dress was perfect and went so well with the dress.
Kenley's collection was typical from her. Her wedding dress was very Audrey Hepburn-first wedding and soooooooooo cute. I actually really liked it. The bridesmaid dress went well with it and was cute as well. Very spring wedding.
Kenley was actually tolerable so I guess the producers had enough time off from her. She sorta half-assed apologized and tried to be civil whereas Korto and Leanne barely made eye contact and couldn't make small-talk. Awkwaaard
So Kenley and Leanne with actual wedding dresses I could see on someone stay and Korto stayed too because, although the bridesmaid dress was eh, the wedding dress was better.
Poor Jerell who should have listened to Tim says bye-bye. Why won't they listen to Tim? He knows best! That should have been the name of his show (which I don't watch cause it's a little boring) " Tim Gunn knows best."
