"The End" (Lost thoughts)

Ya'll, I am so sad this is over.  I cried so much last night.  Pretty much every time someone had an epiphany.  I love Charlie and Claire and it made me so happy to see them together again.  But it wasn't just them.  It was everyone.  I'm going to miss this show, flaws and all.  I've been trying to avoid comments on other pages because I truly loved this episode and I don't want anyone to ruin that for me.  Was it perfect?  No.  Was it great?  Yes.  Am I surprised by the ending?  Yes and no.  Some people are calling the ending a cop-out.  But I wonder what would be the best way to end it other than this ending.  No matter what the writers had decided someone would be calling bullshit.  I think they told the story they wanted to tell and that's that.

I think (and it seems to be the consensus) that everything happened on the Island and everything in Sideways world is just like a holding place for the characters tell they could move on together.  Sideways world was how the characters had wished things had gone.  So they died at some point in their lives (obviously) and made this world where Kate was innocent, and Jack had a son, and Sawyer choose to be good, etc.  There were flaws, but each character got what he or she ultimately wanted.  Some people say they died in the crash, but I don't think so. Christian says that everything really happened and that it all mattered.  It was just a holding place.  They didn't all die at once, but some died before Jack and some died after.  But they wanted to be together to move on.

I'm not sorry that the other mysteries weren't cleared up.  It would have been nice, but it wasn't the point of the show to me.  The point was what happened to the people.  I was invested in them.  I can't think right now of one mystery that I'm dying to understand.  I have reach a place of understanding with Lost.  Sometimes things happen and you will never know why.  That's a lot like real life.

So much happened last night.  It was very epic.  The whole Lost story revolved around fate vs. free will.  Jack volunteered to be the new Jacob, but it was Hurley's destiny.  Jack's destiny was to save the Island.  Jack is a fixer so of course he would be the one to "fix" the Island.  And, God, that last scene with Vincent.  It makes me tear up just thinking about it.  It's just so sweet and moving.

There's so much to say, but others are going to analyze it to death.  I just wanted to say that I'm going to miss Lost.  It was a truly great show.

"What They Died For" (Lost thoughts)

And then that happened... I'm not sure what to say.  I'm not surprised that Jack took up the mantle of Island protector. He has always wanted to be the savior.  It was obvious that no one else really wanted it.  But it sucks that Jacob wasn't really holding hard and fast to his list while it was causing MiB to kill off the people on the list.  I'm sad because this has lead to the loss of Sayid, Jin, and Sun as well as a lot of other people.  If only the two little boys had been able to resolve their issues before instead of all these games.  But it is understandable that MiB is pissed that Jacob basically threw him under the bus.

Desmond is freaking creepy in Sideways world, yeah?  Cool to see Ana Lucia and interesting she is willing to be paid off.  But that is neither here nor there.  I'm guessing Desmond and Kate are on their way to wake up Jack at David's concert.  Maybe we will see the mom.  Is it Mother?  Doubtful.  I'm hoping for Juliet.  Maybe if they introduced Charlie and Claire she would "wake up."  I just want them to be together.   I have never shipped a couple so hard as Charlie and Claire.  But that's my own thing.

Ben was in rare form.  That man always has a game and he knows what it is like to work for MiB.  I'm betting he has an angle and that he will be important in the end just like he always wanted.  Ben just wanted to be important in some way.  I knew he was going to rat out Widmore b/c he blames Widmore for Alex's death.  So I wasn't surprised at that.  It is almost funny how fast they are going through characters.  But my Richard!  Nooooooooo.  I hope he is not dead yet.

I'm surprised so far at where this ended up.  I'm hoping to be surprised some more.  I think I've reached a Zen place with this show.  Whatever happens happens.

"Across the Sea" (Lost thoughts)

I usually write this after one viewing because I like writing down my initial "knee jerk" reactions.  And that is what I'm doing right now.  But I feel like this one had so much and nothing at all.  I'm going to have to watch it again.

What we learned:

Jacob and the still unnamed Man in Black are brothers, more to the point twins.  They are the mysterious blond and dark haired kid plaguing current Locke.  Except that Jacob "killed" his brother (hmmm) so whoever is walking around in the MiB suit is not the brother.  MiB and their "mother" are Adam and Eve from the beginning of the show.  So that shows that the brother was actually dead.  Was Smokey released from wherever because Jacob killed his brother in anger and threw him into the mysterious light/"heart of the Island?"  Remember when John Locke looked into the heart of the Island and thought it was beautiful.  Is the Island trying to escape itself?  Does that make any sense at all?

Jacob seemed a little simple, yes?  He was so childlike and trusting even as an adult while his brother was always questioning.  The mother seemed to favor MiB or so Jacob says and I guess he was intended to be the caretaker of the Island, but he just wanted to leave.  So it was left to Jacob to take care of the mysterious light and the whatever place it leads/lead.  Was the mother immortal?  She was stabbed with the same knife that is being passed around and she was grateful to be dying so she must have lived a long time.  She said she didn't want MiB to leave because she loved him which is a crap reason if it is true.  Was it because she herself couldn't leave or was there another reason she didn't say?  She's the one that made it so that they can't hurt each other.  Maybe Smokey is repayment for Jacob hurting his brother.   Because he wasn't suppose to.  This explains MiB saying that Jacob betrayed him and took his body from him.

Now I feel sorry for the old MiB/the brother.  He just wanted to leave and didn't seem to have any other intentions beyond it.  I do not feel sorry for the current Locke.  His intentions are obviously nasty.  I hope everyone gets the right resolution.  I'm assuming Jacob's guilt is the reason behind his acquiesce to his own murder by Ben.

Elsewhere, we get a little about the electromagnetic pockets and the wells on the Island.  Not too much about their significance that I can understand though.  But we sort of know where the donkey wheel came from even though it wasn't put in when the mother cracked MiB's head and buried the well.  But what is this light?  Is it gone now that Smokey is out?  Obviously it can still be harassed because Ben turns the wheel but it leads to Tunisia, but why there, I wonder?  And why does it move the Island?

I'm guessing the mother didn't know what to do with two boys.  Maybe she figured she had one to take over and one to be with her or something.  I need to watch this one again.  I feel like I must be missing something.  I'm noticing a lot of hate for this episode.  I liked it.  The acting on parts was meh, I will agree, but I feel like when this is all over this episode will have some deeper meaning.  It's like looking at one part of a puzzle.  That piece by itself might not be much, but all together the picture is great.  At least I am hoping so.  It was a slower episode and given what we had last week, I can understand the disappointment that this one wasn't bigger.  But I like it and I'm standing by that.

Re-obession: LOST

Last Thursday I couldn't sleep.  I sleep approximately one hour out of about 40 hours.  I was tired.  I watched Royal Wedding with Fred Astaire and Peter Lawford.  That's a good old movie if you like those.  Then I decided to watch the premiere episodes of Lost.  I figured it would be fun to see how it started.  This lead to a new obsession.  I am once again going to start watching all the episodes of Lost.  I had planned on doing this anyway once the series was over.  That way I can look for clues, knowing what it is all about.  But I've started now.

Things I have noticed so far:
It was always about Jack.  And Kate and Jack had that thing right from the very beginning.
The episode with Jack following his dad was even spookier, knowing who he really is.
The episode where John Locke had his spiritual quest or whatever is interesting, esp. with the Claire/Charlie thing and the Sun/Jin/Sayid thing.
I forgot that Adam and Eve had a bag with two polish stones in in, one black and one white.   They look like the stones that MIB had before he smashed the wine bottle.

I love Claire and Charlie and I hope they end up together again somehow with baby Aaron.  Really I do.

"The Candidate " (Lost Thoughts)

Wow.
I missed watching it last night and so I watched it during lunch.
Wow.

Sadness.

So Locke tried to kill all the candidates.  This is not surprising.  Not at all.  I'm guessing he lead them to the sub so he could keep the airplane.  Man, is he mad now.  Cause now he has to go and kill Jack, Sawyer, and Hurley.  Oh and Desmond when he finds out that Sayid *sob* didn't kill him.  Which I knew he didn't.

SAYID! WHY?  My heart is broken.  My beloved Sayid is gone, GONE!  At least he died nobly instead of all zombie, not emotions Sayid.  And Jin and Sun.  So sweet and yet they just orphaned their baby girl.  I really thought Kate was a goner.  Jin and Sun took me by suprise.  *sob*

Sayd *sob* told Jack that it was going to be him.  So I guess Sayid really thought that Jack was going to be the new Jacob.  I can believe that too.  It was always going to be Jack and Locke (after a fashion) in the end.  So does this mean that Sawyer and Hurley are goners too?  Because if Hurley dies, then I'm done.  Never again will I watch TV.  As much as I love Sayid, Hurley is just the best.  And Hurley just sobbing, o. m. g.  That made me cry more.  And Hurley's face when Jack said there is no more Sayid.  I just can't...

And Widmore was right.  It really was best that they stay in the cage.  They would have been better off.  And Jack was right.  Locke couldn't directly kill them and he was betting that someone would pull the wires.  Sawyer never had any faith.  So how is Locke going to kill the others now if he can't directly?  And where is the blond kid at now?  Is that Jacob, mocking Locke?  When will we see Richard Alpert?

I really think Jack and Kate are meant to be.  They care about each other.  Kate is shot and Jack freaks out.  Kate cries that she couldn't find him later on the beach.  I wonder what would happen in sideways world if they really meet.

Speaking of Sideways world, I know things happened, but they just don't seem to be as important though they probably are.  Jack and Claire make a better sibling connection, Anthony Cooper is brain dead, John Locke is responsible.  Anyone else wonder if John was really Locke(!) coming through.  No, just me, ok.

This whole episode was a knife in the heart.

"The Last Recruit" (Lost thoughts)

Thoughts:

We got a double dose of Jack and Claire acknowledging/find out about their relationship. I was glad to see Kate talk Claire down and hopefully some sense into her.  I knew that dumb-as-rocks Kate would find away to get Claire on that boat.  Not that it really matters, probably.

Locke acknowledged being Christian but said it was for Jack's best interest so Jack seems to be important especially at the end when Locke rescues Jack.  Either that or he really does need them all to get off the Island.  Locke's plans seem to be falling apart around him.  With Sawyer taking his boat and Claire deserting him and Sayid not killing Desmond (I can only assume), he is not going to be happy.

What is up with the meanness to our Lostaways by Widmore's people?  Not cool, not cool at all.  OMG though how touching was Jin and Sun's reunion.  I may have screamed Oh My God in a very very high pitched voice with arms waving.  And then there may have been a few tears.  Love it so very much.  Sigh.

Sideways worlds are converging very quickly.  There was a whole lot of cross-over with Jack operating on John and Sun seeing John (and I think mistaking him for Locke.  I think she was remembering Island world).  Miles and James captured Sayid, and James had a conversation with Kate.  Man, Desmond is a wee bit creepy though in Sideways world.  Still don't exactly know why he ran John over.

Jack finally takes his leap of faith after questioning the wisdom of getting off the Island to Sawyer (who he called James.  Has it done that before?).  And what happens?  He ends up with Locke.  But he does have a point about if Locke is a monster then why would they give him exactly what he wants.  Besides he wants to kill all of Jacob's replacements so that would be a good reason not to trust him.

I honestly am not sure what is going on anymore.  It's gotten better thought now that things are happening.  I wish though they would finally say who Locke/MIB is.  There are only four episodes left till the finale, but the action is definitely picking up.

"Everybody loves Hugo" (Lost thoughts)

Rambling Thoughts:

A Hurley episode! Whee. One of my top 5 favorite characters, tied with number one with Charlie.

Also MICHAEL! HAI, long time no see. Interesting that the whispering is people who can't move on. Like purgatory or something? So that is one minor mystery solved sort of.

Libby and Hugo are soul mates. So sweet. I got a little teary when they kissed and he remembered. They are so awesome. So the secret is to kiss your soul mate in Sideways world and then you will remember Island world. Or have a near death experience which is no fun.

There were a lot of explosions. Ilana, didn't see that one coming. Shocking, but she was always a redshirt anyway. And the Black Rock, oh well. I'm sorry to see Richard gone. I hope the Island isn't done with anyone in his party yet. I'd like to see him back. I'm sure we will.

Desmond is looking very placid now. I wonder what he knows. Is he still experiencing Sideways world? Is that what inspired him to mow down substitute John? I'm guessing it was either to awaken his Island memories or he is pissed off that Locke threw him down a well. Who didn't see that Locke was about to push Desmond into the well? Did Desmond? Anyone with the crazy eyes who is suppose to be dead should never be allowed close enough to kill you. I think Desmond might know who Locke really is and that scares Locke. He looked a little afraid himself.

Locke also had a weird look in his eye when he said hello to Jack. And Jack looked so shocked. Did he really not believe that Locke was walking around?

The words are colliding and will merge soon, maybe? Desmond is pushing everyone towards the Island which is funny since he hated it so much in Island world.

Oooh, I almost forgot blonde kid and his freaking out of Locke.  Desmond saw him too and the whole thing made Locke so angry.  And his angry seemed to amuse the kid.  I'm guessing Jacob?  Or he is the original body of the MIB or ... something?

And Jack actually admitted that when he was in charge nothing ever went right so he is letting the others take the lead.  Which is hard on him, but he is trying.  Way to be smart for once, Jack.

Also next week's previews were awesome/creepy with the Gene Hackman/Chocolate Factory voiceover.
There's no earthly way of knowing / Which direction we are going / There's no knowing where we're rowing / Or which way the river's flowing / Is it raining? / Is it snowing? / Is a hurricane a-blowing? /
Not a speck of light is showing / So the danger must be growing / Are the fires of hell a-glowing? / Is the grisly reaper mowing? / Yes! The danger must be growing /
For the rowers keep on rowing / And they're certainly not showing / Any signs that they are slowing!

"Happily Ever After" (Lost thoughts)

Thoughts:

DESMOND! DESMOND!

CHARLIE! CHARLIE!

DANIEL! DANIEL!

Ok, sorry, geeked out for a minute.  Let's see.  I'm assuming Sideways world is the result of the nuclear explosion.  Daniel pretty much said so.  So this reality is not really real?  Certain people seem to know that it's not.  Charlie had a near death experience that lead to him seeing Claire and realizing that is who he loves in every reality (awww, love that so much).  (I loved seeing Charlie, even suicidal weird Charlie.  I hope he shows up in Claire's sideways and they fall in love.)  Desmond saw his Island reality with Penny.  Eloise/Mrs. Hawking seems to know since she tried to stop Desmond from meeting Penny, saying he wasn't ready.  And apparently this new reality gave Desmond the thing he really wanted which was Widmore's approval.  It seems to have done that with everyone except maybe Kate but she said she was innocent whereas in the old reality she was guility.  So maybe that is what she wanted, and Sawyer chose to be a good guy, Jack a good father, Sayid a loving and selfless brother, Jin and Sun...something, John a loving "husband" and son, Ben a good guy.  They all got what they wanted except maybe Jin and Sun but then we haven't seen the end of their story yet.  They are the only couple to survive Sideways and Island.  MIB's new reality or something else?

Also it occurred to me that everyone on that flight ended up in the hospital at some point sooner or later.  Charlie was looking for Claire but she was probably in the hospital.  Sayid with his brother, Jack is a doctor, Kate with Claire, Sawyer? maybe that is where that falls through.  Oh well I didn't know the significance of that anyway.

Widmore put Desmond in the big electromagnetic thing and it proved that Desmond can only exist in one reality or another, yes?  Like when he was jumping in time in "The Constant."  And so he wasn't really there when he was expereincing the other reality.  Also what's up with the chauffeur?

At first, he was eager to help Widmore when he woke up since it seemed he knew what needed to be done.  I'm still not clear on the plan.  I knew it's to stop the big bad Man in Black/Smokey, but I'm not clear on how that is going to happen.  Then Sayid came along to kill everyone and take Desmond and he trots along after Sayid like whatever, brother.

Are the electromagnetic pockets on the Island keeping MIB contained on the Island?  It seems to be important somehow and I know they use the sonic pylons to stop him.  Is that related?

Next week: HURLEY! Oh Lost there is no way I can abandon you for Glee for sure now.  Hurley beats Glee by a whole lot and that is saying something but I do love me some Glee.

"The Package" (Lost Thoughts)

Thoughts:

Well, how about that ending?  I want to say shocking, but it kind of wasn't.  More on that in a minute.

So this was a Jin/Sun episode.  Their sideways story was about on target.  Nothing shocking, not married, she's pregnant (saw that coming), her father is a bastard, etc.  Man, the guy that plays Keamy is pretty awesome.  I loved his moment with Jin in the meat locker.  Like he was actually sorry he had to kill Jin.  How screwed are Jin and Sun now.

Island: I doubt that Locke would have hurt Sun.  I think he really needs her and Jack and Sawyer and he is so desperate to get off that Island that he is willingly to kill God or whoever so he's thinking that persuading Sun and the rest should be a piece of cake.  And then she runs and looks back which is always a mistake and now she can't speak English.  Poor lady.  Oh and he basically gave Crazycakes Claire permission to kill Kate as soon as he can get all the candidates together.  Does he really want to just take them off the Island or is he planning on killing all of them?  And Claire was looking awfully put out that her name wasn't on the list.  And Locke comforts her by offering up Kate.  Dude, she left him with your mom so that should make it better I would think.  Also you abandoned your child in a forest to wander off with your dead dad.  Kate did you a favor.

I love that Illana has such faith in Jacob and he turns out to be right when Richard comes back with Hurley and wants them to go over to Hydra Island.  We didn't get too much information out of that storyline.  I think Jack is stepping up to be the new Jacob.  He sounded a little like him when he was talking to Sun.  That would be an awesome finale if Jack was the new Jacob and Locke was still MIB because that is like an old rivalry.

Widmore is a worthy opponent to Locke.  He set up those pylons to keep him out and seemed to have Locke's number.  Locke was not happy about that situation, but then he had Sayid, who is now devoid of any human emotion, to do his dirty work.  And a Sayid who can't feel anything, especially guilt and regret, is a very dangerous Sayid indeed.

And, of course, the package: a very drugged up Desmond.  I guess the Island still needs him and Widmore used that to locate it.  Is Desmond the last candidate?  Because I count Sun or Jin, Jack, Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid which is only 5 really unless you are counting Sun and Jin as 1 and 2.  Ilanna just said there were six people to protect, not six candidates left right?  It would be cool and would explain why Desmond keeps getting dragged to that Island.  He seemed to recognize Sayid even in the condition he was in.  Poor Desmond.  Taken from Penny and little Charlie for Widmore's plan to save the world from MIB.  Does Widmore know the whole story or is he really just guessing from legends and stories?  What are those stories?  Please share with the rest of us.  I'd like to say I was shocked but I wasn't.  I figured it would be Desmond at the end.  Still a great ending though.

"Ab Aeterno" (Lost thoughts)

What we learn:

I'm back in love with Lost and I ♥ Richard Alpert like so very much.  Damn!  That man had a hard life  Seriously, his wife dies and he accidentally kills the bastard doctor who wouldn't give him medicine for his wife, goes to prison, won't get absolution from the asshole corrupt priest, is sold as a slave and ends up on the Black Rock destined for the Island.  Then the stupid Englishman goes all crazy and starts stabbing the slaves.  And ole Smokey comes and kills everyone but Richard but looks into his soul or whatever and I guess decides that Richard is worthy of the murder of Jacob or something.  Then he tricks Richard into thinking that "the devil" has his wife and sends Richard off to murder Jacob who kicks the crap out of Richard.

Basically this story was all about how Richard ended up ageless on some mysterious Island with gods fighting or whatever the hell is going on.  The original recipe Man in Black was back and he was trying to trick Richard into thinking that Jacob was the devil and they were all dead.  He admitted to being the Black Smoke straight out though so I wonder if he can only lie by telling the truth, as the devil does.  When he gave Richard the knife to kill Jacob, he gave the same rules that Dogen gave Sayid, don't let him talk to you, stab him in the chest.  More evidence he was trying to trick Ricard into thinking that Jacob is the devil?

Jacob talks to Richard after the murder attempt.  He says he brings people to the Island to prove MIB wrong, that people are not inherently sinful, but he doesn't like to interfere since he doesn't think he shouldn't have to and it would be meaningless if he had to tell them to be good.  He enlists Richard to help.  Richard wants his wife back, then absolution but Jacob cannot give him either.  Then he asks never to die so he doesn't have to face Hell and Jacob smiles and says he can give him that and touches Richard's shoulder and that is how Richard became immortal.  He also explained how MIB is bad.  He picks up the wine bottle and says that the wine is evil/darkness and the cork is the Island keeping evil locked (ha, see what I did there) inside.  So then Jacob is the keeper of the bottle?

MIB's offer to Richard still stands.  The offer to take him off the Island?  I'm not entirely sure.  And he gives Richard his cross back who then buries it.   140 or so years later Richard digs it up and wants to take up the MIB on his offer, but Hurley pops up talking to Richard's dead wife who says he must let her go and that he has to stop the Man in Black from getting off the Island or they will all go to hell. DUN!

So all evidence is pointing to MIB being pure evil and Jacob is his brother's keeper or something.  Oh he gives MIB the metaphor wine bottle who promptly smashes it showing that there is more than one way to release the metaphor evil/wine.  They have a fairly friendly conversation before like people who have been together for a long time.  But MIB is resentful of his imprisonment.  Jacob also mentions that even if he is killed then there will be someone to take his place and MIB says he will kill all of them too.  So, uh oh, for our dear candidates.  This would explain the list on the cave wall and the scratching out of names.

Well, now one of the biggest mysteries on the Island has a back story and I thought this episode was really well done and we didn't have to endure any Sideways stories which is always a plus.

"Recon" (Lost Thoughts)

What did we learn:

Locke (MIB) had a crazy mom because of whom he suffered from "growing pains" and has issues he is still holding onto.  Now Aaron has a crazy mom too who tried to kill Kate and then later gave a teary apology after a slap and a talking to from Locke. I'm still going to go with gods and this will hold up under the "mom" issue because most gods have crazy moms and/or dads.  A lot of parent issues with gods.  Someone will have a better theory about who though, I'm sure.

Sayid is now crazy too but in a disaffected way, not a Claire/Rousseau way.  He watched Claire's murder attempt without stopping it.  I think he is just overcome with Locke's promise and what he did.

Kate is wandering around being useless and almost getting killed as usual.

Sawyer became a cop in Sideways world as a result of his parent's murder/suicide, but his goal is still to kill Anthony Cooper.  Oh Sawyer, how far, yet how close.  He is still a charmer and he captured FelonKate at the end of that story.  If he is a cop, then why did he let her go at the airport?  I don't think he is all that dedicated to the law despite his police status.

Sawyer on the Island is playing the long con or really just hedging his bets.  I guess he figures that Locke and Widmore will kill each other leaving him out of it.  I doubt it will be as clean as all that.  So I guess Widmore is on Jacob's side?  Seeing how he wants to kill Locke and all.  Locke was playing Jacob all that time in the cabin with Ben so I guess the real Jacob went and saw Widmore at the some point.  And Widmore did send Keamy and his friends to capture/kill Ben so Widmore wanted to remove Ben from the situation.  Because Ben can be very clever.  Why can't they kill each other again?  Same reason as Jacob and his enemy?  Anyway,...

RICHARD RICHARD RICHARD
HIS EPISODE IS COMING UP NEXT WEEK! WHOOOO! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

"Dr. Linus" (Lost thoughts)

I'm sick and I just watched last night's episode.  That's right.  I felt so bad last night that I skipped it and went to bed.

W hat did we learn:

I knew they weren't going to kill Ben last night.  I loved his speech to Ilana.  It was so heartfelt that I think he meant it.  And that he didn't go with Locke because Ilana would have him and I think he knows that Locke is telling people what they want to hear because that is what Ben use to do.  Of course, I think Ben was serving Locke the whole time and not Jacob.

I love that he gave up what he wanted for Alex and that it was the right thing to do.  Of course, he has more sway with the principal now.  This syncs up with my idea that Sideways World is being built by Locke.  Ben is carrying around the knowledge that he should have saved his daughter but didn't and now Sideways Ben did what Island Ben couldn't.

There are only six candidates left: Jack, Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid, one of the Kwons, and who?  I'm not sure unless she was thinking of both the Kwons, but Sayid is out of the running too now.  I would assume what with the murdering and craziness and all.  But Ilana wouldn't know that yet.

The other interesting thing was Richard who returned to the Black Rock and said it had been a long time since he had been there.  So I guessing that he was a slave on the ship and that was the ship that Jacob and the MIB were watching.  He wants to kill himself and asks Jack to help, but the fuse goes out because Jack guesses that they have a higher purpose since Jacob touched them.  So does that mean that the others won't die too.  Could that be why Jin survived the explosion of the ship?  I can't wait to find out more about Richard.

Also at the end Charles Widmore is shown coming to the Island.  Is that who Jacob said was coming?  DUN

"Sundown" (Lost thoughts)

I'm still waiting for answers.  I'm serious.  I'm getting tired of this. I know not every epsiode can be GIANT crazy reveal or anything, but just throw me a little something now and then.  Also I know the sideways stories (hee) are going to mean something someday, but I find them a little boring right now.
So quickly,

Sideways:

Nadia is married to Sayid's brother, Omer, because Sayid doesn't feel worthy of her since he is a badass killer and all.  His brother took out a loan from the very shady (yet sexy) Martin Keamy who we last saw killing everyone before Ben killed him.  But that was a different universe or something.  Anyway, Omer is mysteriously mugged even though he already payed the loan back and Keamy's guys bring Sayid to meet him in order to get Sayid to convince his brother to keep paying out.  Sayid kills the two bodyguards in about 10 seconds and when Keamy tries to negotiate, Sayid shoots him anyway to be on the safe side.  Sayid then finds No English Jin locked up in the freezer.

Island:

Claire is sent to deliver a message which is that Locke wants to see Dogen who is not a fool and knows that Locke wants to kill him so he doesn't go.  He sends Sayid out to stab Locke but that doesn't work and Locke convinces Sayid that he can give him what he wants.  What Sayid wants is to be with Nadia and Locke says he can get him that.  So Sayid goes back and has a nice conversation with Dogen who reveals that he was sent to the Island by Jacob in exchange for his son's life because Dogen had put him in the hospital after a drunken car accident.  Then Sayid drowns Dogen and slits Lennon's throat, saying he knows that the only thing keeping Locke/Smokey out is Dogen.  Everyone has till sundown to decide whether to stay or go.  If you stay, then you die.  Most everyone leaves.  Smokey comes and kills everyone, but misses Illana, Sun, Frank, and Miles. Oh and Ben who went to retrieve Sayid who has gone to crazytown so Ben leaves him.  Kate foolishly tells Crazy!Claire at some point that she took Aaron and Claire gets mad face but shakes it off.  When Smokey comes, Kate jumps into the pit where Claire is being held and so she isn't killed.  I'm guessing Claire wants to do the Kate killing herself.  After all the killing, Sayid emerges with Claire and Kate and they walk over the dead bodies with the eerie music of Claire singing "Catch a Falling Star" playing in the background.  Kate's face is disbelieving.  Locke is standing on the other side of the Temple with all the people who got out in time aka his new followers, Lockies (?).  He nods and smiles at Sayid and Claire and looks at Kate non too happily.  They set off. DUN

What did we learn:

Locke/MIB is an angry man who was trapped by Jacob.  Now that Jacob is dead, he wants to kill every living thing on the Island.  But I think that was obvious before.  I still think Jacob is a god, but now I'm wondering if MIB is one too or what is he?  I'm not sure anymore.  Demi-god?  He is really good at infecting people.  Rousseau went mad as did her crew, Claire is crazycakes and now Sayid is too.  The thing is that Sayid is really good at killing people which is why it is good to have him on your side.  I wonder if they were struggling over Sayid's soul and that is why Jacob said to save Sayid.  Because Locke is a lot stronger with Sayid on his side now.  Claire is fine, but Sayid is a stone cold killer no matter how much he doesn't want to be.  He tries and tries not to, but he is what he is.  I think that was the point of the scence where Sayid the child kills the chicken without hesitation.  He was just born that way.  Is it his destiny?  Like Saywer, I think Sayid is tired of being who he is and that is why he went willingly with Locke.  He just wants something good.

The thought occured to me that maybe the Sideways world is the reality that Locke is creating for the castaways if they join him.  Like here is the thing you want but you don't get in it in the way you want kind of deal the devil makes.  So maybe it's not entirely real yet, but as they join him it becomes more real.

"Lighthouse" (Lost thoughts)

Sideways:

Jack comes home from work.  He changes clothes and discovers an appendix scar.  He asks his mom over the phone when he has them out and she says when he was 8 or 9 but he doesn't really remember.  She is freaking out because she can't find Christian's will.  He is late for something which turns out to be picking up his son from school!  The son, David, doesn't seem to like Jack very much.  As an aside, why does Jack, a successful surgeon, drive such a crappy car.   Anyway, Jack goes over to his mom's to look for the will and she thinks that David is scared of Jack.  When Jack gets back to his apartment, David is gone.  Jack goes looking for him and finds out that he is at an audition for the Williams Conservatory.  He goes and hears David playing  beautifully.  He meets Dogen whose son has just told Jack that his little boy is very good and Dogen says that they are too young to have this kind of pressure and that Jack's son has a gift, but Jack didn't know David still played.  Jack and David have a conversation later and David says that he was afraid of Jack's expectations.  Jack tells him the Christian told him once that he didn't have what it takes and Jack carried that around with him for life, but that David can never fail in Jack's eyes.

Island:

Jack talks with Dogen about whether the others are coming back and Jack says no. Hurley talks with Jacob who needs him to do something.  Someone is coming to the Island and he needs Hurley to help him find it.  He tells Hurley to get a pen.  Hurley is wandering around when Dogen finds him.  Jacob appears to Hurley who tells him to tell Dogen that he is a candidate.  He can do what I want.  Dogen responds in Japanese ("You're lucky that I have to protect you. Otherwise I'd have cut your head off.")  Jacob says that Hurley has to get Jack to help him to which Hurley responds that is impossible to get Jack to do something and that he just lied to a samurai.  I love Hurley so very much.  He is made of a whole lot of win.  Anyway, Hurley tries the espionage approach but Jack callls him out on it so Hurley says that Jacob told him that Jack has what it takes.  This gets a huge reaction out of Jack who now wants to find Jacob.
Jack tells Sayid about the poison and how they think he is infected and says there is someone else, but Jack doesn't say who that we see.
Anyway, Jack goes with Hurley.  They run into Kate and there's a little something between the two of them but she runs off to find Claire.  Hurley is happy to be off with Jack like old times and they run into the caves with the skeletons.  Hurley supposes that the skeletons could be them gone back in time.  Jack sees Christian's coffin and explains how he found the caves and why he smashed the coffin.  They talk about why they each went back: Hurley because Jacob told him to and Jack because he thought the Island could fix him.
Finally, they get to the lighthouse.  Jack kicks the door open and they climb up. There is a huge sundial with writing and 3(?) mirrors.  Hurley says they are suppose to turn the mirrors and dial to 108 degrees.  He starts pulling on the chains and Jacks see things reflected at certain points in the mirrors.  He sees the pagoda where Jin and Sun were married, the church where little Sawyer was after his parent's funeral, and his childhood house.  The points of the reflections correspond to the numbers on the dial and each number has a name written next to it.  Jack is 23.  Jack gets upset that Jacob was watching them the whole time and breaks the mirrors.
Later, Jack is off reflecting on life or whatever and Jacob appears to Hurley again.  Hurley is mad as he is not big on secret plans.  Jacob wanted Jack to find the mirrors because he ahs something to do and he has to figure it out on his own and Jack can't just be told.  That is because he is a not a believer.  He has to have everything spelled out in detail and even then he just does what he wants anyway.  Jacob says that the someone coming to Island will find it another way, he just had to get them out of the Temple because someone bad is coming them.  Hurley wants to warn them but Jacob says it's too late.

Elsewhere,  Claire gets the trap off of Jin and she remembers him.  She's been out there for 3 years ever since they all left.  Right now she is living in a tent with dynamite and a bassinet (the same one that John made for Aaron?) with a makeshift baby doll and it is so gross so Claire has definitely lost it.   She patches up Jin's leg.  She also finds Justin, the nice Other, not dead yet so she ties him up.  Apparently she's been to the Temple where they burned her (like Sayid?) and she thinks they have Aaron.  She thinks this because her father and her "friend" told her.  She asks Jin if he is still her friend.  Jin looks alarmed but agrees that yes he is still her friend. She threatens Justin and she is going to kill him but Jin stops her.  He tells her Kate took Aaron off the Island and that Aaron is 3 now.  She kills Justin anyway.  Jin tries to get Claire to go to the Temple telling her that he was lying that Kate had Aaron to save Justin, but she is right.   Aaron is at the Temple.  She says good, that she'd kill Kate if she was raising Aaron.  Suddenly, NotLocke appears and Jin is surprised and says John? and Clarie rolls her eyes and says no that is her friend.  NotLocke smiles.  DUN!

So what have we learned:
The numbers that have carried us through the years correspond to the numbers on the sundial and all the candidates are assigned a number and through the dial Jacob can look at them off Island.  That is what the numbers on the cave wall meant.  Now I wonder if Jacob is the one that wrote those on the wall.  I think that was the MIB's hideout and he was marking them out as he got rid of the candiates.  He didn't want anyone to replace Jacob.
All of Jacob's viable candidates are away from the Temple now.  Sun is treaking through the jungle, Jin is with Claire,  Hurely and Jack are at the Lighthouse.  Sawyer is with NotLocke, I presume so he will meet up with Claire and Jin soon.  Sayid is tainted now so he can't be a candidate.  Kate wasn't on the cave list but she was apparently number 51 on the dial and I don't know about Miles. (oh here is the complete list) He doesn't count maybe because he came on Widmore's ship or he just isn't a candidate or he's escaped but we don't know it yet.
I'm guessing that NotLocke and Claire are heading for the Temple and that NotLocke is the someone bad.  Evidenually Claire is going to find out that Kate took Aaron and then she is going to go apeshit on her.  I wonder if the MIB really thinks Aaron is at the Temple and doesn't know that Kate took him away.  I bet he is important since he was born on the Island.  So who really appeared to Kate and told her not to bring him back?  Claire has obviously been tainted by the MIB.  She was living in the cabin with Christian who was really MIB.  She doesn't remember leaving Aaron under a tree.
I was reading somewhere (I don't remember where) and someone asked a question or said something about all the lists.  Because there were a lot of lists and Jack and Sayid usually went on the list.  But I think all the lists that Ben had were from the MIB since Ben obviously thought that the man in the cabin was Jacob and so listened to him, but it was really MIB and Ben didn't know better.  MIB was putting out the lists trying to eliminate the candidates for whatever reason.

"The Substitute" (Lost thoughts)

*John refers original flavor John Locke in either timeline*

Sideways:

John goes home and it turns out he is marrying Helen and they have a lovingly normal relationship except for the part where he lied about going to a conference in Australia.  She finds Jack's card and urges John to call him.  The next day, John gets fired for using company time and money to go on his walkabout.  He runs into a disturbingly optimistic but still nice Hurley who owns John's company and gives him the number to a temp agency to get a new job.  (Hurley is acting very Jacob-like.  Is Jacob Hurley?)  At the temp agency, John meets Rose who tells him what he CAN'T  do and finds him a job he can do.  Rose is so very awesome.
Helen finds out about the walkabout and they have a tender moment and he doesn't want to call Jack.  He just wants to accept his life in the wheelchair.
So John becomes a substitute teacher and meets Benjamin Linus (!) in the teacher's lounge.  So I guess more than the plane not crashing has changed.  I guess Ben's dad didn't go to the Island.  I wonder if his mom is still alive.

Island:

Illana is crying and Ben finds her and lies that NotLocke killed Jacob and kicked him in the ash.  She gathers up the ash (for protection?) and says that NotLocke is recruiting.  Illana and Sun have an argument and she tells Sun that Jin is most certainly going to be at the Temple, but we know that he is probably with Crazy!Claire.  They bring John's body to the graveyard and bury him and Ben gives a very touching eulogy in which he says that John was a much better man than he will ever be and he is sorry that he killed him.  Oh, Ben, that was sort of nice.  Frank says that this is the worst damn funeral.  I can agree on that.

Smokey wanders around, see that someone is in the Other village, looks around the Island, stops, and NotLocke picks up a machete and cuts Richard down from a trap that he is in in a tree.  Richard wants to know why he looks like John and NotLocke says it is because John was a candidate.  Richard doesn't know what that means, but he is not going anywhere with NotLocke.  Then a little boy with bloody hands appears and it scares NotLocke who leaves Richard in the jungle.

NotLocke goes to see Sawyer who is drunk and who greets him with "I thought you were dead."  NotLocke answers "I am."  Sawyer calls him out on not being John because John was always scared.  NotLocke is not, however, scared, but he says he can answer the question of why Sawyer is on the Island.  Off to the jungle, they trek and there is the little blonde kid again.  NotLocke chases after him and the kid tells NotLocke that he knows the rules and he can't kill him.  NotLocke responses with the age old "Don't tell me what I can't do" sounding a lot like John.
So who is this blonde kid?  My first thought was it was Jacob and that he was telling NotLocke that he couldn't really kill Jacob, but I wonder if he meant Sawyer because Sawyer is important.  Hey, Sawyer is blonde too.  But the little kid isn't little Sawyer.  Someone else suggested that the kid was Aaron and that is an interesting thought.  I've said before that I think Aaron is important in this struggle between Jacob and his enemy.  And what are the rules?  Are they the same rules that meant that Ben and Widmore couldn't kill each other?  If so, is that just a imitation of the greater struggle going on between Jacob and the MIB?

Sawyer, in the meantime, runs into Richard who warns him off from NotLocke and says he wasn't everyone dead and runs away in fear.  Immortal Richard is afraid of NotLocke.  That must mean something because he has been around for a long time and knew both Jack and the MIB in the way back.  Sawyer chooses to stick with NotLocke for some reason.  After a harrowing climb down a cliff, they end up in a cave.  Don't drink the potion, Sawyer!  The locket's a fake.  Oh wait.

NotLocke approaches a rock table with a scale and a black stone and white stone in balance.  He picks up the white stone and throws it into the ocean and says it was an inside joke.  A joke of EVIL!  So I guess that makes it clear what side NotLocke is.  He reveals the LIST scratched on the walls and ceiling of the cave and says it was the list that Jacob made and the only names not scratched out are:
8 Hurley
23 Jack
16 Jarrah
42 Kwon (Sun or Jin)
4 Locke
15 Ford
and we get a flashback to all the times that Jacob touched each person.  NotLocke scratches out John's name.  It seems that Jacob was the protector of the Island and he was looking for someone to take over and all the names are candidates for the job.  He touched all of them and lead them to the Island.  NotLocke says the Island doesn't need protecting, but he says it with a little desperation.  It obviously needs protecting from him.  He says Sawyer can do three things: 1. do nothing,  2. accept the job and become the new Jacob, 3. get off the Island with NotLocke.  Sawyer says hell, yeah to number 3 and DUN CREDITS!

So who is NotLocke really?  I had said god, probably Egyptian, but now I wonder.  He indicates that he was human before and Jacob trapped him on the Island.  That seems off somehow.  I can't think why Jacob would do that except that NotLocke intended to do some real harm to the Island and that was how Jacob could stop him.

Also Kate was not on the list even though she was brought to the Island and touched by Jacob.  But most of the list are men so maybe Kwon refers to Jin and not Sun.  Like the only replacement for Jacob is a man.  And who is the little boy?  And who can't be killed?

If the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything is 42, then the answer to everything must lie with Jin or Sun or their little girl.   Interesting.  She was conceived on the Island so she must be special somehow.  And that goes along with Aaron who was born on the Island.  "Littleton" was on the cave wall but crossed out.  What if it referred not to Claire but to Aaron who I assume has his mother's last name.  But since Aaron is off Island, he cannot be a candidate.  So Claire was brought there not for herself, but for Aaron and Jin and Sun were brought there not for themselves, but for their baby.

Oh and apparently NotLocke is stuck looking like John.  Why?  Because Jacob isn't around anymore?  Does this mean no more Christian Shepherd and randomly appearing former dead people.  So is safe to assume that Hurley really did talk to Jacob? For a season of answers, I sure am using a lot of question marks.

"What Kate Does" (Lost thoughts)

I was less impressed with last night's episode than I'd hoped for.  This happens a lot with Kate episodes since they don't reveal all that much except Kate always makes good and dumb decisions (but then that goes for all of them really).

So flash sideways:
Kate steals a cab with the pregnant Claire and once the cab driver escapes, Kate makes Claire get out.  She doesn't noticed the almost 9 months pregnant belly.  Then she gets out of the handcuffs and finding that Claire's bag is stuff with baby gear goes back and gets her.  It turns out the the adopting couple is spliting and can't take the baby.  Who lets a heavily pregnant woman fly from Australia for an adoption for no reason?  Also shouldn't they have come to her?  Anyway, Claire goes into labor and Kate takes her to the hospital where Dr. Ethan(!) stops the labor.  Claire gives Kate her credit card and I guess that's it.  Although, Claire does call the baby Aaron in a moment of panic.

Island:
Sayid dead, Sayid not dead, confusion all around.  Sawyer escapes and Kate follows, of course with Jin who wants to look for Sun.  JGH burns Sayid and pokes him with a red hot poker and RHM (name Lennon) says Sayid passes the test.  Then he says he lied.  Whatever.  JGH, whose name is Dogen, gives a pill to cure the infection in Sayid, but Jack won't give it to him since he doesn't know what it is in it.  At first I thought Jack was doing his "man of science" thing, but I think it was really about having no trust in the Others and how Jack always seems to make the wrong decision.  Jack actually tells Dogen that he doesn't trust himself, so how can he trust them?  Jack swallows the pill but Dogen makes him cought it up.  It was poision.  Sayid has been claimed by the darkenss which will eat away everything that made him Sayid.  Dogen says it happened to Claire.  So she was with the MIB/Not!Locke/Christian(? I guessing) when she walked away from Aaron and was seen in the cabin!

Jungle:
Asshole Aldo and Justin go with Jin and Kate.  Kate almost sets off a trap and it is discussed that it must be one of the old Rosseau traps.  Justin thinks it is someone else, but before he can tell Aldo shuts him up.  Aldo is an asshole so he is destined to die.  Aldo is still mad at Kate for knocking him out when she rescued Alex's boyfriend.  Whatever, dude, hold that grunge. Kate knocks him out again and she runs off for Sawyer where they share a teary moment.  He wanted to marry Juliet and both blame themselves for her death.  Kate wants to find Claire to reunite her with Aaron.
Jin, meanwhile, runs into Aldo and Justin.  Aldo wants to shoot Jin and just as he is about to, the two Others are shot by a wild looking Claire!  So Claire is the new Rousseau! DUN!

Nothing really gets answered this time and very little information comes out.  The flash sideways are offering anything right now and the old timeline was a little stagnant.  I really enjoyed seeing Claire again and when they finally explain what happened then we will get some answers.  I'm guesssing that when the ash circle was broken and the MIB got out, then Claire got out too unless she is the one that broke the circle.  When was she infected?  I'm assuming before she abandoned Aaron.

"LA X" (Lost thoughts)

There were two timelines going on in this episode.  One where the plane didn't crash and everything proceeds as normal.  Boone talks to John about his "walkabout" and revels that his sister didn't come home with him and I assume that means they didn't sleep together.  Jack saves Charlie's life as Charlie almost chocks to death on a heroine ball he was trying to sallow, and then later Charlie tells Jack that he should have died then.  So I guess Charlie was always meant to die at some point or another. *sob*  Kate escapes from the Marshall and hijacks a cab with Claire in it.  Sawyer, Sayid, Hurley don't do much in this part of the episode, but Desmond shows up randomly.  I wonder if this is an alternate universe, a "what could have been," or just a fantasy.  At the beginning of the episode we get a pan down to the ocean and down into it and we see the Dharma shark and the village and then the giant statue foot all under water.  So I think that this is what happens if Jack was right and the Swan is never built.

The other timeline is where all the OMG moments come in.  So in this one everyone is apparently back to our time now which is 2005? to them.  I'll have to check on that.  Anyway, they are all at the blown up Swan hatch and Juliet is under the rubble and Sawyer goes down for her and she tells him that she blew up the bomb to save him and they kiss and she dies.  *sob sob*  Sawyer is angry at Jack, but he lets them go off to save Sayid and he and Miles bury her and Sawyer makes Miles found out what the last thing she was going to say was.  "It worked."   I don't know what that means and neither does Sawyer.

Jacob appears to Hurley and tells him that he is dead and that Hurley needs to take Sayid to the Temple to save him.  So even though Sayid is clearly dying they wait around forever and then bring him to the Temple where they are captured by some people who live there.  Hurley gives them the guitar case that Jacob gave him and there is a giant ankh with a list inside and the Head Japanese Guy (HJG) asks all their names and I guess that they are on the list, because they take Sayid to the spring which is red looking.  They drown Sayid and then are confused when he is not healed.  Sayid is dead. *sob*  Jack is horrible crushed and confused and doesn't know what to do.  Meanwhile, Hurley tells HJG and his RHM (right hand man) that Jacob is dead and then they all freak out and start spreading ash and preparing to keep "him" out.

In the meantime, Ben is looking for confused and regretful about killing Jacob, but NotLocke doesn't care.  He sends Ben out to fetch Richard.  Ben tries to take control of the situation outside and acts like he just didn't murder their god or anything.  Richard knows better and flings Ben at John Locke's dead body.  Ben is confused.  Then Jacob's bodyguards or whatever go in and NotLocke tells them Jacob is dead and they try to shoot him and he disappears then the Smoke Monster comes and kills them all except Ben.  NotLocke says "Sorry you had to see me like that."  OMG OMG so NotLocke is the Smoke Monster!!! WHAT!!!
Finally they go outside and he greets Richard and says "Hello Richard it's good to see you out of those chains."  Richard stares at him and says "YOU?" and NotLocke says "Me" and hits Richard *sob* and then picks him up and tells everyone else he is very disappointed in them.

Final scene: there is a scuffle and then Sayid sits up and asks what happened.  DUN! Also YAY he's alive.

I'm assuming that the Man in Black/Jacob's enemy is NotLocke here.

The fact that NotLocke is the Smoke Monster answers some questions but brings up more.  I figured that might be the same when Ben went down that hole and saw the hieroglyphics and was confronted by both DeadAlex and Smokey and then Locke shows up right after.  It was how he manipulated Ben into killing Jacob.  So I wonder when John first saw the Monster and said he saw something beautiful if that was when Smokey picked John out.  And he checked Eko out too but Eko was strong and John was weak and that's why he picked John.  Also when was he let out of the cabin.  John first went in Season 3 to the cabin and there was the line of ash that stopped whoever was inside from getting out.  It was assumed Jacob, but is obviously NotLocke.  Although Smokey was roaming around so is that the brawn and NotLocke is the brain and so Smokey could never really do anything but look for someone to set NotLocke free. And finally someone broke the ash circle.  The MIB "became" NotLocke after Ben killed the real John.  So when was he set free?  Did Ben really think it was Jacob in the cabin?  He doesn't seem to know what is going on anymore.  But Richard knows something.  He knows who NotLocke really is.  I think that Richard was on board the Black Rock and that is when he came to the Island either as a slave so literal chains or NotLocke meant "chains" to be his debt and servitude to Jacob.  We find out that NotLocke just wants to go home.  I still think that Jacob and the MIB are gods.  I had said previously that I thought it was Sobek and Set, but someone said Osiris and Set and that fits too.  I"m guessing NotLocke is heading to the Temple now.  Maybe that is the way home.

Different thought:

Why didn't Claire want Aaron brought back to the Island?  Is it because he is important somehow in the struggle between Jacob and MIB?

LOST!

Whoo!!! Lost is back on tonight and that means I'm going to get back to posting my Lost thoughts.  I had sort of started doing recaps, but I don't know if I will do that or just go back to impressions and thoughts and theories.  But I'm super excited because it is the last season and it will hopefully be epic.  I can't wait to find out more about Jacob and Not!Locke and what happens to everyone.

"The Incident" (Lost thoughts)

I've never taken up this many post for one show, but there is so much going on in this episode and I have a lot of thoughts but I wanted to do a summary of the episode just for reference, so this is the Dharma plotline here and here is the Jacob/Locke plotline. This is for my thoughts and theories.

So the part that interested me the most was Jacob and the other guy who I call OG. OG wants to kill Jacob but he can't so he has to find a loophole and he finds it in John Locke and Ben Linus. But what I'm wondering is if he was locked in "Jacob's" cabin and couldn't get out because of the line of ash. And that is who Ben thought Jacob was and who Christian Shephard is working for and who whispered "Help me" to Locke and told him to move the Island. Maybe he told Locke to break up the circle of ash because when Ilana and her group arrive, there is a break. Also Ilana says that "he" (Jacob) hasn't been there is a long time and that someone else was using it. I wonder too what connection Not!Locke/Christian has to the Dead!Alex since she told Ben not to try and kill John Locke again. Is the Smoke Monster, called Cerebus, an ancient god of death?

"The Incident" (Lost summary part 2)

For the Dharma plotline, go here.

So at the beginning of the episode we see a guy (YG) working on a loom and weaving a tapestry, then he goes fishing and cooks and eats a fish while watching the approach of a ship (the Black Rock). Then this other older guy (OG) sits down and they talk about the approaching ship and how YG brought the ship to the Island and how this time might be different. OG says that YG is trying to prove him wrong, but it always ends the same, they come, fight, destroy, corrupt. YG says it only ends once, everything before that is progress. And then OG says that he wants to kill YG and YG knows that but OG can't and that he will find a loophole one day. YG says he will be right here when he does and OG revels that YG is Jacob! and walks away. Jacob is on the beach next to the statue and it is whole and looks to be the alligator god Sebek.

So it is revealed that Jacob has visited and physically touched every one of the "significant" original Lostaways at some point in their lives: Kate and Sawyer when they were young, Jack after his first major surgery, Hurley after jail time for "killing" 3 people, Sayid right before his wife was run down and Jacob may have actually contributed to that one, Jin and Sun at their wedding, John after he was thrown out the window by his father and Jacob appears to bring him back to life, and Ilana after she was injured somehow asking her to help him. He seems to be setting events into motion without really doing anything, but wants them to go to the Island.

2007, John Locke tells Ben that he wants him to kill Jacob, that Locke isn't going to do it. Ben asks why and Locke says that after everything Ben did in Jacob's name and never having had the privilege to even meet him, it should be obvious. Ben says that he told his dead daughter he would do whatever Locke said and Locke is very interested in this. Richard takes them to the foot statue and reveals that Jacob lives there, not a cabin in the woods. In a conversation with Locke, he tells him that he is ageless because Jacob made him that way. Ben and Locke go into the statue base, Richard says to tell Jacob he said hi and goes, Locke gives Ben a knife and off they go.
